A total of 335 lightning strikes have hit, during the early hours of the morning, all over Galicia. As a result of this intense electrical activity, the Galician countryside was affected by four forest fires.
The affected areas were: the natural park of O Invernadoiro (Vilariño de Conso, Ourense), a sawmill in Vilavidal (Santo André de Penosiños, Ourense), the parish of Cervás (Ares, A Coruña) and Doniños (Ferrol).
According to initial estimates, the fire has consumed 3.2 hectares in O Invernadoiro. Two other fires caused by a thunderstorm have also been extinguished, leaving more than 110 hectares burned.
