Last Sunday night, a spectacular event took place in Benidorm that left all the residents in shock. A lightning strike caused a fire on the rooftop of one of the two towers of the Balcón de Poniente. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but firefighters quickly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire before it could affect the gas tanks installed there.
Both the affected building and its twin each have a lightning rod. However, the device was not able to attract the lightning and prevent the impact on the building.
